I bagged my first wildlife last night! I’m a natural at this hunting business. I went out to go potty and saw something in the grass. I chased it and caught it! It was a baby snake! But much to my dismay, Mom came running over and took it out of my mouth and threw it over the fence. She seemed a bit startled. I think she didn’t realize I’d caught a snake! LOL! Silly Mom - she thought I was just playing the in the grass when in reality I was keeping this house safe from intruders! So she grabbed it out of my mouth thinking it was a big piece of grass and she was holding a snake! HAHAHAHA!

CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH - the meals my Mom prefers me to eat.

Sneaky kitteh investigating me while I eat.
I’ve made a new friend! Her name is Deuce. She is a 5 month old kitteh that also lives with my parents. I know that it seems strange for a doggy and kitteh to be friends but this will be so much fun! She runs and I chase her and she runs and we play some more. She comes and finds me so that I can chase her. What a tease! She knows I can’t run up the stairs so she runs up them and sits just three stairs from the bottom. I bark for her to come down and play and she just smiles. Then when I’m not looking she runs down and runs through the kitchen to the dining table. Where again I can’t reach her. So I bark and then she runs back to the stairs. And back and forth and back and forth.

My new kitteh friend and I find a common interest.
This sure is going to wear a puppy out! But it is so much fun. She is a brave kitteh to make friends with a puppy, but I’m so glad she has - now we can be one big happy family! There is another kitteh that lives in this house named Orangy. He is still very scared of me and hides upstairs. I wish he’d come out and play too!

I spent my first night in my crate last night and oh was it miserable! Why in the world would I want to lay in that crate versus the nice, soft, cozy bed with Mom and Dad. Oh how I cried but they didn’t give in. Mom and Dad are as stubborn as I am. I even think I heard them giggle at my cries. I tried every sort of scream but it didn’t work. Sometimes I pretended I was being attached. Then I tried attacking the crate. Then I tried straight up super sad puppy cries. I tried crying like a baby. Eventually though I was just too tired to continue and had to rest up to start the process all over again in a few hours.

My First Treat

First Time On Leash
I had my first full day with my family in North Carolina. This place sure is different from Idaho. It is hot and humid and filled with bugs. All my human friends seem to be bothered by the bugs but I think they are SO much fun! They jump and hop and slither and play and I like to play with them! Funny thing though usually when I play with them they stop jumping and hopping and slithering. HMMM…..
I had my first adventure on a leash today. At first I was frustrated and I protested. What were Mom and Dad thinking! I don’t want to be controlled on a leash! I’m a big boy and can decide where to go on my own without restraint. But then I realized that Mom and Dad wanted to go the same places I did - and that I really didn’t have a choice - so we decided to explore the front yard.
It isn’t nearly as exciting as the back yard.
I also had my first try at crate training today. What a boring thing that is! I don’t know what my Mom and Dad are thinking. “Why can’t I just go with you.” I protested! But they insisted. I cried and cried for them but they left anyway.
They said not every place allowed dogs. But I’m not just a dog - I’m part of this family! I just don’t understand these human ways!

Bug Squash!
I also had an accident in the house today. I’m still trying to find my voice to communicate to my Mom and Dad my needs. I talk a lot but sometimes I think they just don’t understand what I’m saying - but there’s a lot I still don’t understand about there ways too - like why they always want to hold me and snuggle. I’m no baby - I’m a big boy who wants to walk and run like a big boy.
My kitteh friends haven’t been around much today. I think they are scared of me. I just want to make friends. I know they are part of the family too. Hopefully they will get used to me in the house soon.
I love the food and water bowls that were made for me. I’ve had two meals today and have the chubby bubby tummy to prove it. YUM!
It’s sleepy time for me. I need my beauty rest. More adventures to report in on tomorrow. I have a vet appointment in the morning (YIKES) and lots of fun for the afternoon with my family. Good night everyone!

Me In Action

I made the long journey today from Idaho to North Carolina. Aunt Kara came and met me at the airport in Boise, Idaho. Kim, my breeder mom, brought me to the airport with my dog dad and two of his dog pals. It was so nice for them all to wish me a good trip! I know I’ll miss my home but I have such exciting things to look forward to in North Carolina.
I didn’t have any delays and all flights were on time! I couldn’t believe it! I was on my best behavior too! Aunt Kara let me out of my carrier and I walked around the airport like a big boy puppy and didn’t have any accidents. I made friends with everyone I met - no one can resist my puppy charm! There was a nice woman on the last leg of my journey that lent me her lap as my bed and we both snuggled the whole time. I had to rest up to meet my new family.
Mom and Dad were waiting for me in the airport. It was so exciting! I immediately looked them both in the eyes and gave hugs and kisses and started telling them about my journey. I sure do love to talk. I was worried that all the people and sounds would make me nervous but they didn’t. I was calm and relaxed but happy to be at my final destination.
I was super content in the car. I like car rides. Good thing because I hear I’ll be at the track a lot - so I better learn to love cars.
I have a ton of toys to play with at my new house. Aunt Kara bought me a rooster that I love to rumble with. I’ve also got a hedgehog that makes crazy grunting noises and a Kung Fu dog. I’ve got some crazy Kung Fu moves myself so I know I can take him.
The wood floors here are going to take some getting used to. I slip and slide everywhere! But I’ll get used to it soon enough. The stairs are something else to get used to! I’m not quite big enough and my chubby tum tum gets in the way. But I’ll keep practicing.
I have two kitteh siblings but they aren’t so sure of me yet. They ran away and hid.
I just want to make friends. I’m sure they’ll get used to me with time.
My mom and dad took some videos of me. You can watch me on my first night at: http://tiger-bear.com/videos/pruett/
I’m so sleepy though after this long day. I’ll write more updates tomorrow.

I had my first vet visit yesterday to get my health certificate to fly to North Carolina. The vet said I was the most friendly and outgoing GSD he’d ever seen at this age! I love to talk, talk, talk so you’ve all been warned! Who could resist these puppy eyes along with puppy chatter.
My breeder mom weighed me today. She said I was “quite the little chunk.” But I think there’s just more to love! My current weight is just over 10 lbs at 7 weeks. I’m definitely going to take after my dog dad.
Aunt Kara is super excited to pick me up and I can’t wait to meet her! I hear she has a rooster snuggly and Nylabone for me to play with on my trip. I’ll try to be good Aunt Kara but I can’t make any promises! I’m just soooo excited and puppy excitement is tough to contain!
My mom and dad designed me a custom water bowl and dog dish! I feel so special!
Hopefully with my name on the dishes the kittehs that I will be sharing my home with will get the hint that these are mine and mine alone. I don’t want kitteh cootehs in my water! YUCK!

Kittehs - I’m warning you now! Touch my water and food bowls and you’ll end up behind bars.

I just found out that my new family lives in North Carolina! I’m not sure what to expect but my breeder mom has assured me that this family is loving and excited for my arrival. They already have toys and special dishes and a crate and MORE TOYS just for me! I think I like them already! I know I’ll miss my brothers and sisters but we all have to leave home sometime - and I’ll have a new home with plenty to do and learn and see and lots of LOVE! I have a long plane ride on Saturday but I’m going to try my hardest to be on my best behavior. I hear there are lots of cooties in the airport so I’m going to be extra careful when I meet strangers. Wish me luck! I’ll report in once I arrive!
