Waiting to see the doc....
I had my second vet visit today - the first though in North Carolina with my family. I got my second round of distemper shots (OUCH!) and heartworm and flea medicine. The vet thinks that my diet is okay and thinks there are just a few fleas causing the itchies. I’m a bit on the lean side - who would have known under all this fluff - but Mom and Dad let me free feed so I’ll just keep eating.
Mom and Dad put bets on how much I’d weigh. Mom guessed 16.4 and Dad guessed 17. I don’t know how Mom did it but she guessed right on - 16.4 lbs.

A little unsure of what was to come...
My weight could double by my next appointment on the 19th of November. I hope so because that would put me on track to be big like my dog Dad.
The vet said that Mom and Dad have to work on a few things like getting me used to having my mouth opened and teeth checked, laying on my back, having my nails clipped and a ’settle’ command to calm me down and take me out of my puppy fit moments. We’ll see who wins that last battle.
Everyone thought I was the snuggliest furriest thing they’d ever seen and some where convinced that Mom and Dad were trying to pass off a bear cub as their puppy. Silly humans can’t spot a GSD when it is right in front of them. Hopefully these ears will come up soon. They are really close and want to come up. Each day they stand a little taller. Just the tips are flopping over now. Sometimes one will stand up for a few seconds but flop again it does.

Mom stayed home with me today. I’ve got a case of the itchies. We don’t know what it is but I go to the vet tomorrow for my second round of shots and to find out. It keeps getting worse and worse. Maybe it is fleas. But it seems like something more. Some people have told me that it is diet or sensitive skin. I don’t know but I want these itchies gone! I’m trying to be a good boy and not scratch but sometimes it is just too much! Mom gave me a bath with some special puppy oatmeal shampoo that is supposed to help soothe my skin. Maybe it is working a little. It better be for how horrible that bath was! I screamed and cried more than I’ve ever cried but she just didn’t seem to care. Kept on putting that water on me this soap and then the water again. Ugh! Gross! I showed her and threw a big puppy fit afterwards.

I hate you but I love you. GRRRRR! Baths suck!

So now that things have settled down I have a chance to write about the weekend. Vera Lynn, my husky girl friend, brought my Uncle Jimmy and some friends over for the weekend. Below are some pics of how Saturday went.
You can see lots of pics from this weekend at: http://tiger-bear.com/videos/pruett/

So my new friend showed up last night. And she brought a friend too! Yes I said she. Her name is Vera Lynn. She sure is a spunky spitfire. At first she seemed more like she wanted to fight than play but by the end of the night we sure were getting the hang of things and establishing who was in charge. She is much more coordinated than I am but I’ve got size and a serious bark. More to come but I can see we will be best of friends growing up!

Even tie in establishing dominance.

I’m meeting my first puppy friend tonight! A puppy Husky born right when I was so we are the exact same age. Mom and Dad said they would take tons of pics. We are all headed to the track tomorrow for some go kart fun (of course with more pictures taken). I’ll report in tomorrow night. I”M SO EXCITED! I hope he wants to be my friend.

This has been an eventful and progress filled last few days. I finally learned how to climb down the stairs and I get more and more skilled each day! I started out by going down one then walking across that step and then my front feet down and across, etc. Now I can just charge on down! Watch out world - I’m almost fully mobile. Each day my coordination is improving and I’m turning more and more into a real puppy full of puppy energy and life! I’m loving it!
I’ve also slept all the way through the night the past two nights. I know that makes Mom and Dad happy so I’ll keep trying! I’m hoping to prove myself as trustworthy in my crate for a while and then be allowed to sleep on the bed with Mom and Dad. I know they would like that too. I just have to learn how not to get bored in the middle of the night and start chewing on fingers and toes.
Mom bought me a rope to play tug with and that is blast! I’m going to have abs of steel!
I found out that Deuce and I have even more in common - she wants to be a race car driver too!
