Staples OUT & A Trip to Phydeaux

As a special reward for being so good after my spay we got to go to an animal store in Chapel Hill called Phydeaux. Get it! COOL! We wanted to pick up some new loot and we sure racked up on the goodies!

As a special reward for being so good after my spay we got to go to an animal store in Chapel Hill called Phydeaux. Get it! COOL! We wanted to pick up some new loot and we sure racked up on the goodies!

We started the day at the vet. Boo. But not-so-boo. Because although it was the vet it meant I got my staples out of my tummy. WOOHOO! Pruett is still going through is, “I’m so excited I SQUEAL LIKE A PIG at new places” phase. We do our best not to encourage him. He isn’t allowed to continue until he settles down. So poor Dad had to stand in the rain in the parking lot with him. We have to take every opportunity we can to train that beast. SO EMBARRASSING! Finally he calmed down and they came inside while I was in the back with the docs. He behaved long enough to get weighed - he is currently 62.4 lbs. I got a clean bill of health and on we went…

We seem to have a big problem finding toys that last. Pruett loves to play tug and I love to tear the stuffing out of things - so between the two of us we pretty much destroy everything that isnt certified to hold 2000+ lbs. We found this guy though who promises to do just that (ok we lied - but the package sounded like it would do something pretty close.) I will keep you posted if this thing is Pruett proof.

They had a ton of treats at this place. We were in heaven! The people there were super nice. They have a ton more stuff than the chain pet stores and it was all less expensive and MORE SELECTION! Woohoo! That means we get more, cooler stuff!!! These things are called bully sticks. They said they were bull boy parts. Pruett looked a little worried after reading the description. But they smell delicious so I think hell be distracted when it comes time to actually eat them.

We each got a new leash too! These are pretty cool. They have this awesome handle so Mom and Dads precious hands dont hurt (*cough* - wimps) while they train us to heel. They are adjustable so when we go for hikes we can make them longer and then shorter when we go for neighborhood walks. We also got this super short leash for Mr. Pru P. Pants for extra control in the neighborhood. Told you - he is a BEAST!

Us dogs have a lot to carry around with us and we dont exactly have pockets. They make us wear everything right out in the open on our collars! Our name, address, phone number, health information - I feel so exposed - I am not a piece of meat! I shouldnt just be put out there like an open book. Well we found a cool product to solve several problems. It is a little pouch for our collar. It allows all our information to fit inside it and it keeps our tags from jingling together. We heard about this cool product from some dogs named Monkey and Coco. THANKS!

I JUST WANT TO HELP!

Mom got home from work and said we could play fetch but first she had to do some back yard clean up. Daphne and I try to do a lot of clean up on our own but usually get in trouble. How come she gets to have all the fun? But then I saw her go for the shovel…she cleans up the back yard in a different way.

I get a little crazy in the head when I see mom grab the shovel. I tried to contain myself. I wanted to help. That shovel has a job. And I was ready to help that shovel. I couldn’t resist any longer. I started barking and clawing at the shovel. Mom told me to stop but I just couldn’t! RUFF RUFF RUFF! SCRATCH, DIG, SCRATCH! She said that she appreciated my help but I would have to go inside. WHAT?! So inside Daphne and I went. I sat at the window. Yelling for her to let me come back and help. WHY DOESN’T SHE WANT MY HELP? UGH! I’m so misunderstood.

FINALLY she finished and it was time. I LOVE fetch. I LOVE anything that makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something. WORK WORK WORK! WORK WORK WORK!

I think I am drunk off of fetch fun!

Daphne looks like a polar bear and someone stole 3 of my legs! WTF! Must be global warming!

After we played fetch for a while it was time for my other favorite thing: TUG! This video turned out kind of like that movie The Blair Witch Project. YIKES!

What did you do today that made you happy? Leave a comment and let us know. :)

Hide and Seek and…PEE?

So yesterday we practiced a came called, “Seek“. I sit. Mom stays and we practice, well, staying still. Dad goes and hides my ball. Then they say “Seek Ball” and it is up to me to find it as fast as I can. This is a super fun game. I love working. Daphne doesn’t seem to get it. She just watches. That works out pretty well though because sometimes she plays interference which I can’t STAND. When she does that I have to bark at her and make a mean face. She just giggles though. GRRR! Stupid girls! She loves to do this when we play fetch outside. She never actually tries to get the ball. She just chases me and tries to get in my way.

I’m getting really good at seek. Dad hid one in a really tough place - the bathroom. Well I found it! I was so excited that I ran back to Mom to show her and she gave me praise and pets. I got so excited I peed on her shoe. Actually I just peed and her shoe happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Sorry Mom!

This is how I look - running through the house though (we dont have a picnic table inside sillies) trying to find my ball.

A Shepherd in the Backyard

This is a reinactment of me calling to Akela.

This is a reinactment of me calling to Akela.

OMG! Guess what?! A little shepherd mix puppy has moved into the house that faces our backyard. She came to her forever home yesterday. Her humans know her Dogmom is a GSD but don’t know what breed her Dogdad was. The Dogmom was abused and escaped and took herself to an animal hospital where she gave birth to a litter of 8 puppies the next day. WHAT A SMART MOMMY! She is just a day over 8 weeks old right now. The animal hospital named all the puppies after the reindeer - her original name was Vixen - since they were born right at Christmas time. Her human family made that her middle name. Her new first name is Akela, from The Jungle Book. HOW CUTE! (Hope we got the name right - us doggz don’t have the best short term memory).

She doesn’t look like us color wise but she sure has a shepherd face! Her coat is light and silvery and she has a cute black tip to her tail and a little black diamond on her tail too! I promise to get a picture next time we see her. Her human mom was very nice. I tried calling to Akela from our yard to see if she wanted to come down and play but she seemed a bit unsure - so I called louder and that didn’t really work either. Maybe I’ll try a different approach next time.

Mom and Dad put us in the house and went and visited Akela. Turns out that our family was her first set of visitors in her forever home. We felt honored. Can’t wait for her to get bigger so we can show her the ropes!

WELCOME TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD!

A New Perspective

hezzo

Hezzo! Things are pretty cool up here at the human level. Things look a lot different. I kind of like this new view. I love climbing places my brother can't. It drives him nuts.

Hmmm...didn't think about how to get down though....

Animal Rescue Site

The Animal Rescue Site

Our Grandpa & Grandma Raeburn from Alabama are big dog lovers! GO DOGS! They sent us an email and we thought we’d help spread the word. It is about helping to fund rescue foundations for dogs/shelters in need. They have saved many animals on their own and we thought it was great to help support a cause we all believe in. We know we aren’t rescue dogs and lived a great life before coming to our forever homes -  and we want to make sure every animal out there gets a family as great as ours. Our kitteh brother and sister were found in our backyard and if it weren’t for our parents they may have ended up in a shelther needing support. Help the ANIMALZ!

The Animal Rescue Site focuses the power of the Internet on a specific need — providing food for some of the 27 million unwanted animals given to shelters in the U.S. every year. Over 10 million animals are put to death every year in the U.S. alone because they are abandoned and unwanted.

Each click on the purple “Click Here to Give - it’s FREE” button at The Animal Rescue Site provides food and care for a rescued animal living in a shelter or sanctuary. Funding for food and care is paid by site sponsors and distributed to animals in need at the Fund for Animals’ renowned animal sanctuaries (including Cleveland Amory Black Beauty Ranch in Texas and the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in California), pet shelters supported by the Petfinder Foundation , North Shore Animal League , and other worthy animal care facilities supported by the GreaterGood.org foundation.

100% of sponsor advertising fees goes to our charitable partners.

How You Can Help In Mere Seconds — Every Day

The Animal Rescue Site provides a feel-good way to help promote awareness and prevent rescued animal deaths every day — through easy and quick online activities.

Please remember to click every day to give help and hope to those most in need. Every click counts in the life of a rescued animal.

HI! Sorry I havent been able to write. :( I have an ouchie on my girl parts (well where my girl parts used to be). Pruett has been a good big brother and kept you all up to date on my progress. This picture is me when I was feeling down. Don't worry - I know it looks like they may have accidentally chopped off my ear but it is still there. I promise. Only girl parts were taken.

I am really good at looking sad. It gets me lots of extra love and treats. Heehehehe. Shhhh - dont let Mom and Dad know.

Pruett got a little too friendly - see poor snowman's carcass in the backround on the Coolaroo? I thought maybe he was just taking a nap but he soon lost all his stuffing and had to be put down. :( RIP Snowman 2/21/09 - You will be missed - your arms will still be enjoyed - they will carry on your memory and legacy.)

Pruett didnt know if anyone realized what had happened to Snowman or if he would get in trouble. He tried to act like nothing was wrong but he isnt a very good liar.

Guess Ill have to be patient for a little bit longer.

Daphne Takes One Step Back

Poor DBear! :( She sleeps on and off in her crate. She makes really faint cry noises and it makes us all SAD!

Poor DBear! :( She sleeps on and off in her crate. She makes really faint cry noises and it makes us all SAD!

My sister has been on her best behavior and taking it easy but I guess not easy enough. This afternoon Dad came home early to make sure we were doing okay. Daphne was resting on the couch and Dad noticed she was bleeding. She got up and it looked like she had leaked some fluid and blood. :( OH NOES! He called Mom and they decided to take her to the vet. Her ouchy had opened up some and she had fluid build up that came out at home. They put more glue on her and put a few staples in for extra support. She has to get those taken out in 10 days. They have her on some extra medicine so she would stay sleepy. They gave us extra so that for the next several days she’ll stay sleepy. And just in case they gave us some antibiotics too.

I’m bored without my sister to play with. I’ve resurrected Snowman. You may remember her from this Christmas. We lost several teeth and she wasn’t so white anymore. She is also serving as a good outlet for my animal instincts to dominate and, well, hump. Sorry Snowman but you have to take one for the team while my sister is out of commission.
