Vera Lynn - Look Who’s Growing Up!

- The first time I met Vera Lynn.

As Daphne mentioned earlier I’ve seeing her in a new light the past few days. Something was just different. Her coat seemed shinier. A sparkle in her eyes. The way she pranced around the back yard. I know she is my sister (technically only half sister) and all but I don’t have a lot of options living in a house in the human world. And she got my animal instincts going. Well…they took my Daphne away yesterday. All day.
And she came back last night. And something was different. She was my old sister again. Well sleepy and wobbly. But my old sister. I think it is better this way.
We picked her up after Mom and Dad got out of work. Here she is coming out of the vets office.
She looks so sad. Here she is on the car ride home. I think she definitely was ready to come home.
Once she got home she was scared to get out of the car. I think she was worried that she would be taken back the vet. She knows the car is safe. And if she doesn’t get out they can’t do anything more to her. Poor Daphne.
Once we got her inside I checked her out to make sure she was ok. Mom and Dad kept asking me to be gentle. Who me? Rough? Bull in a china shop? NEVER!
They made her put on this funny collar. It looked like a lampshade. She didn’t seem to thrilled. But she didn’t seem too much of anything. They gave her lots of medicine where she went.
Get Well Soon Daphne! I’m ready to play! It is boring without you!
This was my very first hike. Turns out I’m quite the agile climber. I think maybe I might be part mountain goat. I’ve been practicing by jumping up onto the bed and from the couch to the floor to my crate.

This rock was pretty slippery. The humans get their fancy no slip shoes but I'm hard core. I rough it bare foot style.

Climbing up though means getting back down. I'm good at that too.

Pruett isn't quite as agile as me. He more just plows his way through the trail and mountain like a wild man.

I think I look better doing it this whole mountain thing than he does...I do believe they call it grace. :)

We went for a hike to Grandfather Mountain. It was AWESOME! This was Daphne’s first hike. I’m a veteran at this point. We ran into a family on our way down the mountain who had seen our prints. Well some kind of prints in the mud. There had been several signs posted along the trail warning of recent bear sightings. They were relieved to find out the prints were mine and not a bears. They must not get out much. See below. I think there is a little bit of a difference in our our sweet puppy paw prints and a scary bear!
Tell that guy to get a manicure or something! Thank goodness this guy wasn’t around! I like to think I’m brave but I’m not sure I’m that brave!!!!
Mom and Dad keep talking about the heat. It doesn’t seem hot to me. It isn’t summer yet. My brother is acting strange. Pacing the house. Playing in a strange way that he normally doesn’t do. He keeps trying to hump my face. It has to do with this thing they call the “heat”. If you ask me it is cold outside. I just don’t understand. They said they are going to fix it tomorrow though. Wonder what that means.
