Secret Project Revealed!

We would like to officially announce the project that has us so busy!

THE FORUM @ GSD ADVENTURES

A quick (not so quick) note from our Mom about the secret project:

A fellow dog blogger, Goodbear of Daily Dog Photo and Cody Bear’s Friends  had the idea to start a dog book club. The basic concept would be to read one dog themed fiction book a month and discuss. We tossed around different ideas for discussion and then I realized that the kids and I had talked at length about putting up a forum (the same basic concept as The Bone Zone over at Dogs With Blogs) but a more general forum for animals and humans alike. This was our push to get it done. So done it is! We would love if any of the humans out there would like to join in on the forum and book club. We are a very informal bunch and love any and all conversation. The book for April is “The Dogs of Babel” by Carolyn Parkhurst.

First things first. We’ve added a button on the top right of our side bar that looks like this so you can easily access the forum just by coming to our site:

Click there or here to enter the forum. The address is easy to remember too - just http://www.gsdadventures.com/forum

Told you it was easy. If you join and think that button (for all those non nerds a button is an image that is linked to another site that you put up on your page as a quick reference and announcement that you belong to a particular community) is snazzy there is an area where you can snag your own button code in the forum under, “New to the Forum? We’ll Help You Get Started.”  Think this button is too big - there are other options to choose from.

Next step is to create an account. Once you go to the forum, scroll all the way to the bottom. There will be an area to login if you have an account (that is where you will log in once you take care of this next little part) and a button that says “Register“. Click it and away you go. Select a user name and password, create your profile and start posting.

register

Check out where the red arrow points. That is what you are looking for at the bottom of the forum screen. You can even click this image to go to the forum! OMD!

If you aren’t familiar with forums there is an FAQ button on the top right of the page.

See that red circle. That is the top right of the forum page. You will always see that FAQ button which you can click for help. You can also register or log in the same area.

See that red circle. That is the top right of the forum page. You will always see that FAQ button which you can click for help. You can also register or log in the same area.

For anything you can’t find there please just post in the FAQs section at the top of the board.

faqclick

This is a screen shot of the board main page. At the top you see the Forum for FAQ. Just click and it will take you to the next screen.

faqstep2

Then click "New Topic". It will open up a form that looks similar to an email box and you type in your topic and hit post. Your message appears on the board and we will post a reply.

I or another member of the forum will post a reply.

If you are totally confused after trying to do those things please just send us an email gsdadventures@gmail.com and we’ll do all we can to walk you through the process of using a forum. We don’t want anyone to be discouraged. There are no stupid questions.

The best way to think of the forum is like group chat or a message board. It is informal. Don’t worry about being profound or profetic. Just put your thoughts down and respond to topics. This is just a place to build a community with an underlying theme of a love for animals.

Think of it as sending an email to your friends (that original email is a “topic”) and then your friends just keep replying or “posting”. But you go to the board to see the topics and posts. You can private message “pm” your forum friends too so you don’t have to remember a lot of email addresses.

When you create an account it tracks what items you have and haven’t read. So that when you log back in you can see which sections have been updated. Cool right!?

Please let us know if you have any questions. We really want this to be user friendly and beneficial to its users. If you see a need for an area on the forum or would like to get involved - let us know.

Time To Start Washing Our Hands. The project is almost complete.

In blog news:

week1Since I live with my family and sister, I don’t get the opportunity to meet too many fine females out there. As you ladies know I will one day be an official stud muffin. I could be YOUR virtual  stud muffin!

Scooby Doo realized there were a lot of pups out there just like me who were in the same boat, er, yard, er situation. He started: Lookin Fur Love With Scooby. Go by to check out my profile. You can submit one too! The instructions are on the top of his blog. Leave me a note here or on the site if you are interested in a love connection. I realize many of you live around the country but as you can see, I’ve got some serious computer skills and we can keep in touch online. :D

Lazybear? At Least I’m Not An Overreacterbear!

Since Pruett felt the need to give me a lesson and lecture in evaluating threatening situations, I thought I’d share with you all how he decided to evaluate this situation. It is a hose. Just water. Not scary. No need to attack. Pictures bark louder than words. See if I listen to you Mr. Poo-It (thanks Cooper for the new nickname - HAHAHA).

A Day at the Track

This weekend we headed to VIR again for some fun track time. Dad needed to be there really early so he left before the sun came up on Saturday. As the rest of the family needs their beauty sleep (especially Daphne - she needs all the help she can get), we headed up later in the day.

I was so happy to get to the track! It was a beautiful day! The sun was shining! And it meant I didnt have to be in the car with Daphne anymore. She is a backseat hog!

Don't need to worry about it. Why you may ask? Because A. he has doodle in his breed and B. his real name is Doobie. These factors equal a zero threat.

Outside Adventures: The Spruce Deuce

Every once in a while during the night when the humans and doggehs are asleep myself or my brother Orangey will hijack the blog and put up a little story. We figured: A. you hadn’t heard and B. we wanted to piss of  the dogs so here is my little post.

I got to venture outside of the house. I know, I know. That doesn’t seem like a big deal. But I haven’t been outside since me and my littermates were rescued by my humans nearly a year ago. The last several times my parents have opened the door I have run up to the door and peaked outside - hinting I might like a taste of freedom. I’m no kitten anymore afterall. So today they left the door open to see what would happen. I slowly crept outside. Keeping very close to the house. I watch TV during the day when my parents are at work. I’ve seen shows about hawks and such that like to sweep down and carry away delicate beings such as myself. Here are some pics from my first journey outside. I hope there are more adventures to come in that outside world. :D

Meows,

The Spruce Deuce

Zoey x Doc Puppies Delivered!

Back in February we found out that my DogMom (Zoey) and DogDad (Doc) we bred for another litter of puppies due this March. (Click here for the original story and photos of my parents) Well guess what! It is March! And the puppies were born yesterday morning! There are two males and two females still available - hard to believe right?! Here is what Kim (our BreederMom) from Patchwork Shepherds had to say:

Hello All,     Well just letting everyone know that we FINALLY have puppies…..  WHOO HOO!!!  Zoey started at about 4am this morning and it is 9:45 now and I don’t think that she is quite done yet.  Probably 1 or 2 more in there I think.  So far we have 1 BLACK male, 1 Black/Tan male, 2 BLACK females and 1 black/tan female.   They are STUNNING and HUGE!!!!!   We will get pictures up today.  Everyone is doing great so far and Zoey has done it all on her own with no problems at all.  She is being a wonderful mommy and is taking great care of them.  I will e-mail everyone once pictures are done ( probably this EVENING )   I need to rest for a while when she is done before I attempt pics.    CONGRATS to all new “parents”  ….   NOT TO LONG NOW!!!!

Here are some pics of the new little monkeys!

Click here to go to Patchwork Shepherds and see current photos of the pups!

Click here for a full album - not sure how long she will leave this up - probably only for a few months.
