A note on our Mom. She can be weird sometimes. And she likes doing silly crafts. Silly crafts are normally cool and fun, and, well, silly, until you end up as the main subject matter of said silly craft. And in this instance - the “you” is Daphne and I. Please see the interpretation she has below of us playing ball with Dad. Dad is the dude dressed as a penguin. The second pic is Daphne and I getting ready for a snowball fight. And if you are wondering why no one has eyes it is because she says eyes are too tough to cut out of construction paper without precision tools, of which she has none. Don’t know whether to get her some which would in effect encourage the habit or steal all her construction paper. Hmm….I don’t even want to know how much time she spent on this.
Any way - I guess it is the thought that counts so THANKS MOM for always thinking of us.

Protector of the Yard
I went and visited Mom’s work today. It was super fun. She has lots of green grass to run around in. Aunt Kara and I ran around and then ran around some more. It was so much FUN! I got to meet Mom’s coworkers. I was so tired though from running around with Aunt Kara that I could hardly greet them. They were really nice though and said they were fans of my blog!
I was sleepy and that sunshine was sooo bright. I kept trying to hide in my Mom’s shadow to take a nap but for some reason these people wouldn’t let me sleep. They kept wanting me to snuggle and be cute on demand!
Tomorrow I’m off to visit my Great Aunt Kerry! I can’t wait!

Can you spot Pruett?
Mom and Dad couldn’t find me today. La la la. La la la. Where could I be?

My new favorite thing - snuggling! I’m getting more and more comfortable each day in my new home. Being relaxed is key to quality snuggle time. My favorite spot is on my Dad’s chest while we hang out on the couch. It is the perfect place for us to nap together. And naps we need. I’m not the best at sleeping through the night yet.

Snuggling with Aunt Kara

Snuggles with Dad

Wow! Today was filled with excitement! I climbed the stairs for the first time on my own today. Funny thing about going up stairs is that you have to come back down. The latter proves to be a lot more difficult than the former. I’ll get the hang of it though. For now I just scream for Mom and Dad when I get stuck in the middle.
Deuce and I are continuing to become friends. We are both a little unsure of each other but grow more confident every day. We’ll be snuggling together in no time. We share my toys. I’m good at sharing. I think she likes them more than me. Especially Otter. She throws him around and attacks him! YIKES! Glad I’m not that Otter. :/ She’s started to taunt me by batting at me but is nice and doesn’t use her claws. It is our new game.
Mom and Dad were so happy with me last night. I slept from 11pm to 6am without needing to go outside to go potty! I also had some more practice staying in my crate today. I’m getting more and more relaxed in it. When Mom and Dad got home I was still sound asleep and they had to wake me up.

Sneaky kitteh investigating me while I eat.
I’ve made a new friend! Her name is Deuce. She is a 5 month old kitteh that also lives with my parents. I know that it seems strange for a doggy and kitteh to be friends but this will be so much fun! She runs and I chase her and she runs and we play some more. She comes and finds me so that I can chase her. What a tease! She knows I can’t run up the stairs so she runs up them and sits just three stairs from the bottom. I bark for her to come down and play and she just smiles. Then when I’m not looking she runs down and runs through the kitchen to the dining table. Where again I can’t reach her. So I bark and then she runs back to the stairs. And back and forth and back and forth.

My new kitteh friend and I find a common interest.
This sure is going to wear a puppy out! But it is so much fun. She is a brave kitteh to make friends with a puppy, but I’m so glad she has - now we can be one big happy family! There is another kitteh that lives in this house named Orangy. He is still very scared of me and hides upstairs. I wish he’d come out and play too!

I spent my first night in my crate last night and oh was it miserable! Why in the world would I want to lay in that crate versus the nice, soft, cozy bed with Mom and Dad. Oh how I cried but they didn’t give in. Mom and Dad are as stubborn as I am. I even think I heard them giggle at my cries. I tried every sort of scream but it didn’t work. Sometimes I pretended I was being attached. Then I tried attacking the crate. Then I tried straight up super sad puppy cries. I tried crying like a baby. Eventually though I was just too tired to continue and had to rest up to start the process all over again in a few hours.

My First Treat

First Time On Leash
I had my first full day with my family in North Carolina. This place sure is different from Idaho. It is hot and humid and filled with bugs. All my human friends seem to be bothered by the bugs but I think they are SO much fun! They jump and hop and slither and play and I like to play with them! Funny thing though usually when I play with them they stop jumping and hopping and slithering. HMMM…..
I had my first adventure on a leash today. At first I was frustrated and I protested. What were Mom and Dad thinking! I don’t want to be controlled on a leash! I’m a big boy and can decide where to go on my own without restraint. But then I realized that Mom and Dad wanted to go the same places I did - and that I really didn’t have a choice - so we decided to explore the front yard.
It isn’t nearly as exciting as the back yard.
I also had my first try at crate training today. What a boring thing that is! I don’t know what my Mom and Dad are thinking. “Why can’t I just go with you.” I protested! But they insisted. I cried and cried for them but they left anyway.
They said not every place allowed dogs. But I’m not just a dog - I’m part of this family! I just don’t understand these human ways!

Bug Squash!
I also had an accident in the house today. I’m still trying to find my voice to communicate to my Mom and Dad my needs. I talk a lot but sometimes I think they just don’t understand what I’m saying - but there’s a lot I still don’t understand about there ways too - like why they always want to hold me and snuggle. I’m no baby - I’m a big boy who wants to walk and run like a big boy.
My kitteh friends haven’t been around much today. I think they are scared of me. I just want to make friends. I know they are part of the family too. Hopefully they will get used to me in the house soon.
I love the food and water bowls that were made for me. I’ve had two meals today and have the chubby bubby tummy to prove it. YUM!
It’s sleepy time for me. I need my beauty rest. More adventures to report in on tomorrow. I have a vet appointment in the morning (YIKES) and lots of fun for the afternoon with my family. Good night everyone!

Me In Action

I had my first vet visit yesterday to get my health certificate to fly to North Carolina. The vet said I was the most friendly and outgoing GSD he’d ever seen at this age! I love to talk, talk, talk so you’ve all been warned! Who could resist these puppy eyes along with puppy chatter.
My breeder mom weighed me today. She said I was “quite the little chunk.” But I think there’s just more to love! My current weight is just over 10 lbs at 7 weeks. I’m definitely going to take after my dog dad.
Aunt Kara is super excited to pick me up and I can’t wait to meet her! I hear she has a rooster snuggly and Nylabone for me to play with on my trip. I’ll try to be good Aunt Kara but I can’t make any promises! I’m just soooo excited and puppy excitement is tough to contain!
My mom and dad designed me a custom water bowl and dog dish! I feel so special!
Hopefully with my name on the dishes the kittehs that I will be sharing my home with will get the hint that these are mine and mine alone. I don’t want kitteh cootehs in my water! YUCK!

Kittehs - I’m warning you now! Touch my water and food bowls and you’ll end up behind bars.

I just found out that my new family lives in North Carolina! I’m not sure what to expect but my breeder mom has assured me that this family is loving and excited for my arrival. They already have toys and special dishes and a crate and MORE TOYS just for me! I think I like them already! I know I’ll miss my brothers and sisters but we all have to leave home sometime - and I’ll have a new home with plenty to do and learn and see and lots of LOVE! I have a long plane ride on Saturday but I’m going to try my hardest to be on my best behavior. I hear there are lots of cooties in the airport so I’m going to be extra careful when I meet strangers. Wish me luck! I’ll report in once I arrive!
